Upcoming exhibitions around Brisbane

There are a couple of upcoming exhibition openings in Brisbane that look interesting.

First the Brisbane Emerging Art Festival exhibition titled CheckIn, Opening at Metro Arts on Saturday 19th February from 6 - 10pm. The exhibition focuses exclusively on new work and seeks to create a platform to promote the most exciting visual art being made in Brisbane. The exhibition presents artists within a dynamic and critical discourse, with a purpose of creating an arena for the public to view, study and critique new modes of art practice being developed locally.
Each year the exhibition will bring together a new Director, Curator and writer to present the emerging art showcase as part of the Brisbane Emerging Art Festival.
2011 ARTISTS:
Nat Koyama, Michelle Knowles, Alex Cuffe, Rebecca Smith, Timothy P. Kerr, Erika Scott, Jason Fitzgerald, Anastasia Booth, Richard Stride and Sue Beyer.

The second exhibition is One More Time With Feeling at Pine Rivers Art Gallery, on show from 16th February to 12th March 2011..
One More Time With Feeling is a compelling exhibition of contemporary artworks by the graduates of the Queensland Collage of Arts. Representing the culmination of each student’s intense engagement with an area of thought this exhibition draws on histories of discourse, lineages of practice, personal experience and intuition to bring out imaginative, innovative conclusions in the visual.
