LAUNCH: Clayton Utz Art Award 2010
The LAUNCH: Clayton Utz Art Award 2010 opening and winner announcements were made last night. It is one of the country's most generous non-acquisitive art prizes; offering emerging artists with a close connection to Queensland an opportunity to profile their work in the unique environment of Clayton Utz's Brisbane premises. There are 23 shortlisted artists this year with works created in a broad range of media including painting, drawing, photography and sculpture. Haruka Sawa was selected as the $10,000 award recipient, Sonya Peters received a highly commended award and Jason Fitzgerald a special mention. Other finalists this year include Lyndal Hargrave, Nicola Moss, Jan Van Dijk, Jim McDowell, Meaghan Shelton, Simone Eisler, Rebecca Ross, Phoebe McDonald, Paul Mumme, Steven Vella, Stefan Dunlop, Sandra Kane, Vivienne Kelly, Anita Hochman, Ari Fuller, Carly Scoufus, Chris Howlett, Dane Beesley, Kirra Jamison and Nikola Sweet.

Congratulations to the LAUNCH Award winners - very well deserved! Also, congratulations to the other finalists as well! I feel thrilled and honoured to be amongst you all! Creativesight has done an amazing job of curating and hanging the show and of course Clayton Utz support to Queensland emerging artists is simply fantastic! Thank you's and 'congrats' all around!
